Strong Earthquake jolts Wen Chuan, China in May, which has killed almost 70,000 people. Thanks to the humanity, fraternity and devotion, we are not alone: all the world stands with us for the relief efforts.

GuangDong Designer Rebuilding Effort for Wen Chuan Elementary Schools

Organised by Yangcheng Evening News and Guangdong Charity Federation, the Guangdong Design Industry gathered all forces from the trade and proposed to donate a “Centre Elementary School”. Currently, Yangcheng Evening News and Guangdong Charity Federation are recruiting a creative plan named “earthquake-proof demonstrating school”.

Organised by Yangcheng Evening News and Guangdong Charity Federation, the effects of the earthquake has awaken people from all walks of life in China. This is the first systematic multi-disciplinary relief effort in China and it starts in Guang Dong.

Currently, the Guangdong design think tank including Zhao Jian, Lin Xueming, Xiao Ping Zhang, Shao Ling, Pang Wei, Yu Jinggan, Yuan Qifeng, Feng Yuan et al. are making design proposals, including creative concept, programming, architectural design, interior design, graphic design, product design, landscape design, creative design, memorial design. The team believes these design projects aiming at preventive and safety measures is not only suitable for Wen Chuan, but also a good demonstration for middle school and elementary school students in all over China in the future.

The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art, Zhao Jian, and other designers said:

“We will co-ordinate with related departments, and prioritize the “Centre Elementary School” project as part of Wen Chuan rebuilding planning. Professionals of Guangdong design industry will build an elite team. The team will volunteer and accomplish all design work of proposals, programming, architectural, interior, graphic, furniture, and school uniform designs.
It is the design industry’s promise to the society.”
